Ken Peplowski Quartet
Undisputed master of swing, clarinetist Ken Peplowski brings his gorgeous sound, and superlative technique to the Bach. Peplowski has been a creative force since the 1970’s when he joined the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and later in the 80’s catching Benny Goodman’s attention who hired Peplowski into his band he brought out of retirement. Though fully versed in bebop and more modern jazz, he gained widespread attention recording for Concord Jazz with a coterie of musicians who expanded the small group swing tradition, players like guitarist Howard Alden, trumpeter Warren Vaché, and tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton. Peplowski has recorded over 70 albums as a soloist, and close to 400 as a sideman – some of the artists he’s performed/recorded with include Charlie Byrd, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, the Cincinnati Pops, Hank Jones, Peggy Lee, Bill Charlap, Tom Harrell, Cedar Walton and Madonna.
